CANNALIB · STATE OF THE CATALOGUE · 0.7.1-STDLIB · FROZEN 2026-09-29

What the catalogue holds, what it refuses, and what changed.

CannaLib's whole pitch is that it never invents a number, so this page does not either. Every figure below is a count from the database frozen on 29 September 2026 and published as API 0.7.1-stdlib. Each is labelled by what it counts. The figures that competitors would be tempted to use, and that we will not, are listed at the end.

●  one page per freeze · permanent URL

143,611
Strains
named cultivars only; dispensary products, lab labels and listing titles are on a separate ledger

111,128
Alternate names

1,276,466
Lab test results
from named labs and state feeds, excluding moisture tests, placeholders and duplicated summaries

1,884
Products
867 nutrients, 321 mediums, 696 lights

The strain count fell from 223,819 in August to 143,611 because the database got stricter, not smaller: 120,822 names are now on a public ledger of product SKUs, lab sample codes, listing titles, forum thread titles and error pages, instead of being counted as strains.

DEPTH

WHAT WE REFUSED

The counters competitors cannot say.

Honesty counters

10,163 strains whose THC is stated by 3 or more independent sources: corroborated, not scraped once; copies of one source count once.  ·  37,014 strains where sources disagree on THC and we show all of them.  ·  271,392 parent claims quarantined, not published.  ·  342,460 wrong or unusable records withdrawn but kept in a ledger; we never silently delete.  ·  250,314 chemistry rows flagged and never used as potency: moisture tests, placeholder values, pooled summaries.  ·  120,822 names kept on the product and label ledger.  ·  131,857 terpene values shown without a unit because no source states one.  ·  14,622 parent names we could not match yet, kept and not invented.

WHAT CHANGED SINCE THE LAST FREEZE

Five publishes, one direction.

0.4.0-stdlib · 17 Aug 2026 — 175,807 strains. The remade catalogue after the malformed file.
0.6.0-stdlib · 13 Sep 2026 — 258,889 strains. Recovery from the intact 16 August snapshot and identity landing; the count rose because real identities were recovered.
0.6.2-stdlib · 13 Sep 2026 — terpene repair, corroboration-first card pick.
0.7.0-stdlib · 14 Sep 2026 — 143,612 strains. The count fell because 119,307 product names moved to the ledger; competition results, checked award claims, credited pictures and the lineage graph ship with it.
0.7.1-stdlib · 29 Sep 2026 — 143,611 strains. 404,911 more lab test results from state lab records (Nevada, Washington, Hawaii, Michigan, Utah) and the Steep Hill chemotype set; 2,802 genotyped samples from four published datasets give 862 strains measured DNA relatives; 7,175 facts from books, magazines and papers; 1,514 misspelled duplicate names moved to the ledger instead of being counted.

NUMBERS WE WILL NOT USE

Tempting, and wrong.

Tempting figure Why not
223,819 or 261,236 strains the first counted product names; the second is every name in the database including 117,625 ledgered ones
12.8 million data points includes page scaffolding and facts on ledgered names
1,414,927 or 1,824,589 lab or chemistry records include moisture tests, placeholder values and pooled summaries
12,957 strains with THC agreed by 3+ sources counted duplicate copies of the same source as independent
78,612 photos general plant reference images, not cannabis cultivar photos
140,107 or 134,495 family-tree links the first predates the lineage clean-up; the second includes links to unmatched or ledgered names
20,177 awards predates the award claim check
any average THC, height or "typical" flowering time we do not average across sources, so the site must not either
reviews the corpus holds no review bodies; the source sites gate them behind logins
WHERE THE LIVE NUMBERS COME FROM

Two endpoints, no key.

GET https://api.cannalib.org/v1/corpus

GET https://api.cannalib.org/v1/catalogs/strains/blue%20dream

The first returns the counters, precomputed at each publish. The second returns a live example record with every claim and its sources. Everything on this page that is not in the corpus endpoint is a fixed figure from the 29 September 2026 freeze and is labelled as such.
