CannaLib's whole pitch is that it never invents a number, so this page does not either. Every figure below is a count from the database frozen on 14 September 2026 and published as API 0.7.0-stdlib. Each is labelled by what it counts. The figures that competitors would be tempted to use, and that we will not, are listed at the end.

The strain count fell from 223,819 in August to 143,612 because the database got stricter, not smaller: 119,307 names are now on a public ledger of product SKUs, lab sample codes, listing titles, forum thread titles and error pages, instead of being counted as strains.

Honesty counters
7,981 strains whose THC is stated by 3 or more independent sources: corroborated, not scraped once; copies of one source count once. · 34,916 strains where sources disagree on THC and we show all of them. · 271,392 parent claims quarantined, not published. · 342,460 wrong or unusable records withdrawn but kept in a ledger; we never silently delete. · 243,421 chemistry rows flagged and never used as potency: moisture tests, placeholder values, pooled summaries. · 119,307 names kept on the product and label ledger. · 131,857 terpene values shown without a unit because no source states one. · 14,622 parent names we could not match yet, kept and not invented.

0.4.0-stdlib · 17 Aug 2026 — 175,807 strains. The remade catalogue after the malformed file.
0.6.0-stdlib · 13 Sep 2026 — 258,889 strains. Recovery from the intact 16 August snapshot and identity landing; the count rose because real identities were recovered.
0.6.2-stdlib · 13 Sep 2026 — terpene repair, corroboration-first card pick.
0.7.0-stdlib · 14 Sep 2026 — 143,612 strains. The count fell because 119,307 product names moved to the ledger; competition results, checked award claims, credited pictures and the lineage graph ship with it.

The first returns the counters, precomputed at each publish. The second returns a live example record with every claim and its sources. Everything on this page that is not in the corpus endpoint is a fixed figure from the 14 September 2026 freeze and is labelled as such.
