CannaLib API — Free Key Terms

These interim terms cover free CannaLib API keys only. They will be replaced by our full Terms of Service; we
will email free-key holders before that change takes effect.

Who a free key is for

Free keys are for personal, hobby, research and open-source use. Free-key access is non-commercial: if you’re
building a product, app or service you offer to others, you’ll need a paid plan once one is available.

Limits

A free key is limited to 5,000 calls/month, 250/hour, 1,000/day, and 60/min, with up to 10 results per search
across a maximum of 3 pages, and up to 1,000 distinct records served per month. One key per account. These limits
may change with notice on this site.

Attribution

Anywhere you display data from a free key, include the credit “Data: CannaLib (cannalib.org)” as a visible link
to https://cannalib.org.

What you may not do

  • No bulk export or systematic download of the dataset beyond your monthly and distinct-record limits.
  • No building or materially improving a database or product that offers the same or similar data to others.
  • No reselling access to your key or the data you receive.
  • No using API data to train, fine-tune or evaluate a machine-learning model, including large language models,
    without a separate written data licence.

Your key

Your key is personal to your account. Keep it secret — anyone with it can use your allowance. We may
suspend or revoke a key for abuse, evasion of limits, or a breach of these terms.

No warranty; not advice

The service is provided as-is. Records are reference information only and are not advice of any kind. Nothing
here excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be
excluded by law.

Changes and ending the free tier

We may change or end the free tier, with notice on this site and, where practical, by email to affected
accounts.

Privacy

We collect your account email, API usage logs and, for payment (paid plans only), data handled by Paddle as
